Vietnamese Language Competitions

So you have been learning Vietnamese? And maybe you have taken these practice quizzes. But now you want to up the challenge and see how you fare against others. Here is a list of Vietnamese language competitions.

Vua tiếng Việt

Literal translation of Vua tiếng Việt is “King of Vietnamese language.”

This is more like a game show than your traditional language competition. But it is a Vietnamese language competition.

Contestants have to compete against each other using the knowledge about Vietnamese language through four rounds of different activites. The one with the lowest score in each round is eliminated. You can find more information about the format of the competition here.

Prize: The winner could earn up to 320 million VND (about $13,500 USD at the time of this writing) in Season 2, and 180 million VND (about $7,596 USD at the time of this writing) in Season 1. This reward makes this competition the highest paid Vietnamese language competition in this list.

Vui Tiếng Việt is a quiz show hosted on network VTV3. It currently has 2 seasons. You can watch it for free on VTV network website.

Registration: It is not very clear cut how to register for this competition. It is a game show after all. According to this post about Casting Call for Season 2, the only way to sign up was to get the registration form from VTV3 fan page. Since VTV3 is already broadcasting Season 2, it may be too late to register for Season 2, but you can always follow their fan page for upcoming competition registration.

It is unclear to me what their official fan page is as it is not mentioned in the post or their website so I will not include a link here in case my assumption is incorrect. However, there is an email in the poster in the post that you can contact if you have any questions regarding this competition.
